Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine (Pty) Ltd (Union Mine) is a PGM Producing Mine located in Swartklip, in the Province of Limpopo, the Republic of South Africa.
Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine (Pty) Ltd is a Platinum Producing Mine based in Swartklip, in the Province of Limpopo, the Republic of South Africa specifically known as Union Mine.
We also produce Palladium, Rhodium, Gold and Chrome as by-products. The Mine was acquired from Anglo American Platinum effective from the 1st of February 2018 by Siyanda Resources and the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Joint Venture.
The Mine has an estimated life of 17 Years and employ about 5200 Full Time Employees.
We sell our PGM through an Offtake agreement with Anglo American Platinum’s Rustenburg Platinum Mines. Our Chrome is extracted from the tails by our sister company, Masa Chrome.
Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine has invested more than R60 million for its host communities through the Social and Labour Plan(SLP). This has been done in line with the Integrated Development Plan (IDPs) of Moses Kotane and Thabazimbi Local Municipalities as well as Bakgatla BA Kgafela Tribal Authority Masterplan to address critical areas of socio-economic needs of communities.
Social and Labour Plan projects focus on Infrastructure Development, Education and Skills Development, Health, Poverty Alleviation, and Enterprise Development. More than 19 projects have been committed and in process, they create job opportunities and skills development for local communities.
Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine (formerly RPM Union Section) has been in production for at least 40 years.
